Why Kumbh in prayag is so important?

Prayag Raj is a ancient name of Allahabad that means a place of Sacrifice. Allahabad (Prayag) is a unique place because of confluence (sangam). Confluence (Sangam) a place where more than one river meets to each other. Why Allahabad is a unique place? Because of three holy rivers the Ganga, the Yamuna and the subterranean Sarasvati meet to each other, so any one who takes bath here at the point of confluence is considered it will bring auspiciousness to the life and this is also end point of the Yamuna.

From Allahabad to bay of Bengal (place where the ganga meet in ocean) only the ganga go ahead.

End point of Yamuna and direction of Ganga to Bay of Bengal

The banks of both rivers are so huge, so when millions of people come to Allahabad, all they easily adjust and the chance of accident is very low. The arrangement are organised in such a way that easily control the unexpected crowd.

As well as the people of Allahabad are also excited to welcome the people who comes from other. They also arrange free of cost fruits, food, water and whatever necessary at that time. Actually they believe in donation because of this they start distribution of fruits, food, water on the main road of Allahabad which connects to railway station to Sangam. All these arrangement also happen at place of Sangam, Allahabad.
